Shining Lights Terms and Conditions

Please read the following terms and conditions before submitting a Shining Light nomination.

Confirmation Email

  • If you provide a valid email address, you will receive an automated confirmation email that includes the text of your nomination.

Review and Publication

  • Your nomination will be reviewed by a member of the Communications Team at NHS Humber Health Partnership.
  • If suitable for publication, it will be approved within 48 hours (Monday–Friday) and may be shared through official NHS Humber Health Partnership channels, including:
    • Bridget (staff intranet)
    • Public websites
    • Social media channels
    • Hospital news bulletins and newsletters
    • The Group Chief Executive’s briefing
    • Trust board papers
  • The following details may be published:
    • Name(s) of the individual(s) or team(s) being recognised
    • Their department or ward
    • The site where they work
    • Details of what they did
    • Date of the nomination
    • Whether the nomination came from a staff member, patient, or relative
  • The name and contact details of the person submitting the nomination will not be published.

Digital and Physical Recognition

  • All nominees will receive a digital “thank you” email within 7 days, if a valid email address is available.
  • All nominees will also receive a “Someone thinks you’re amazing” card and a Shining Lights pin badge via internal post within 8 weeks of the nomination.
  • For team nominations, up to 10 pin badges can be sent, along with a single card addressed to the team.

Data Storage and Privacy

  • Your name and contact details will be stored securely and only accessed by the Communications Team.
  • If your submission raises patient safety or safeguarding concerns, your details may be shared with the Risk Management, Safeguarding, or Patient Experience teams to allow appropriate follow-up.
  • If a nominee contacts us to ask who nominated them, we will only share your name and contact details if you gave permission to do so.

Monthly and Annual Awards

  • Each month, a panel of 10–20 staff from across NHS Humber Health Partnership reviews all nominations and creates a shortlist of three.
  • The Group Chief Executive selects one Shining Lights winner from the shortlist each month.
  • Monthly winners receive a certificate at the annual celebration event. If your nomination wins and you’ve provided your contact details, you will also be invited to attend.
  • Monthly winners are also considered for a Golden Stars Award at our annual staff awards ceremony.

Your Rights and Contact

  • You can request a copy of any Shining Light nomination that includes your personal information, whether you are the nominator or the nominee.
  • You can also request for this information to be deleted at any time.
